  The up side of summer being here finally is that it brings sunshine, lazy days at the beach, beautiful cool bush walks and evening BBQ’s with friends and family. The down side is that it is also the ideal temperature and environment for busy, buzzy little critters such as sand flies and mosquitos! Like it or lump it – they share our summer environment with us too, and we need to be prepared for them. Earth Energies Insect Repellent is the perfect answer for preventing unwanted bites and itchy bits. A blend of essential oils designed to foil the bugs and look after your skin, we recommend keeping a bottle handy at all times this holiday season.   There’s no escaping the itchies and the scratchies at this time of year. Whether we’re laying on the beach getting gnawed alive; dodging a mouthful of exuberant black sand-flies while hiking through the bush, or quietly going bonkers on a balmy evening as an elusive mosquito drones its taunting pre-bite buzz endlessly around the bedroom, we are all, sooner or later, at the mercy of tiny biting things. And gone are the days when we reached for the nearest can of fly spray and annihilated all creatures great and small, or slathered ourselves in a chemical concoction that, although slightly sticky, did seem to deter the little critters. Our quest for effective yet natural, non-toxic alternatives has lead us into the wonderful world of natural essential oil blends, that may not pack quite the same punch, but certainly, with regular application, work brilliantly. And really this makes the most sense, doesn’t it? We will battle the natural elements with nature itself. At Earth Energies, we have created an uplifting and pleasant smelling insect repellent to look after those exposed parts of the body by discouraging any unwanted visitors. In a base of pure sweet almond oil and our infused kawakawa oil, we have added six essential oils whose unique properties combine to deter bugs, as well as to look after our skin. Eucalyptus, lemongrass and citronella are all well-known insect repellents. They contain active ingredients that the little critters don’t like, so they avoid contact with them. This is good news for our bare bits! Lavender, rose geranium and tea tree oils are also useful for keeping bugs at bay, as well as providing healing and protective properties to our skin. This clever combination of oils works to disguise some of our human odours that the mozzies are attracted to; working like a kind of invisible shield. These oils smell absolutely divine too.

Despite careful planning and regular insect repellent application, there are going to be times when the bugs get the better of us. If you, or someone close to you is tearing at their skin to no avail, we have our Earth Energies Kawa gel to take away the urge. Kawa gel is a blend of natural oils, beeswax, kawakawa extract and essential oils designed to promote healthy skin on all levels. While our essential oil levels are well within the recommended doses, we do advise caution using Earth Energies Insect Repellent and Kawa Gel if you know you have sensitive skin and are adversely affected by essential oils and fragrances.
